High season in Margarita is Carnival, Easter week, July–August and December–New Year: demand rises, the fleet fills and rates are published separately. Here is the real difference and how to secure your car without surprises.

When exactly is high season?

  • Carnival (February–early March): the busiest week of the year.
  • Easter week (March–April): same logic as Carnival, with more weekend tourism.
  • July and August: Venezuelan school holidays — heavy family demand.
  • December and Christmas/New Year: international arrivals and family gatherings.

The rest of the year (January–early February, May–June and September–October) is regular season, quoted per day.

High season vs regular season prices

High-season prices are quoted weekly; the daily price is the weekly reference ÷ 7 [E]:

Vehicle Regular day [E] High week [E] High day*
Suzuki Alto / S-presso manual USD 40 USD 750 ≈ USD 107
Kia Picanto / Suzuki Celerio USD 50 USD 945 ≈ USD 135
Suzuki S-presso automatic USD 50 USD 945 ≈ USD 135
Suzuki Swift automatic USD 60 USD 1,010 ≈ USD 144
Suzuki Jimny USD 80 USD 1,020 ≈ USD 146
Toyota Cross USD 100 USD 1,080 ≈ USD 154
Toyota RAV 4 / Hilux Double Cab USD 120 USD 1,570 ≈ USD 224

* High-season daily = weekly rate ÷ 7 (reference [E]).

The always-updated table lives on the prices page.

How to secure a car without overpaying

  1. Book 3–6 weeks ahead of Carnival or Easter: economy cars run out first.
  2. Consider more rental days if you stay 4–7 nights: the weekly rate beats paying per day.
  3. Manual instead of automatic if you can drive stick: you still spend less even as rates rise.
  4. Quote with two models in mind: if your first choice is gone, the second drops in price without losing time.
